Anna and her daughter Jay are working together to create inspirational note cards and renewing the tradition of sending sunshine the old fashioned way to your mail box. As a child, Jay, loved checking the mail to see what notes or gifts may be found.
Today, they are forging ahead with producing cards and art through D & M Cards so that everyone can renew their joy when their mail is delivered!
Jay Campbell is currently a senior in high school. She found her love for art during 8th grade at Apex Middle School in North Carolina. She earned the “Best Artist of the Year” award from her grade level peers. She then started taking group art classes which turned into individual art classes due to her intense desire to learn more at a quicker pace.
As her love for art continued to grow she decided to attend the Visual Arts summer intensive program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) in Winston-Salem during the summer of her 9th grade year. She has decided that art will play a vital role in her life, so she accepted the invitation to attend UNCSA in their Visual Arts High School program. We are so very proud of her!!!
Anna Campbell found her passion and love of paper while owning a printing company in Texas with her husband Brean. She would drive into downtown Houston to visit the Xpedx shop on her monthly pick-up runs with great anticipation about finding new treasures with every trip.
She really enjoys sending “love notes” to her family and friends, but she LOVES receiving them even more! She finds great pleasure going through her stash of note cards and stationary until she finds just the right one for the special person who is next on her recipient list.
Anna believes that everyone deserves sunshine and love, and in this small way she and Jay hope to bring some joy to your life as well.
How D & M Cards Came To Be:
During a fun community craft night at the Ballentine-Spence House, Anna was sitting with her friend Christina C. going through magazines looking for images and words for their vision board project.
Christina casually tore out and handed Anna a magazine page showcasing an entrepreneur who was building her dream greeting card business. She was an amazing artist who painted and created each unique piece that would later be printed and used on her cards.
It was at that moment that Anna realized that her passion for note cards and her daughters gift of drawing and painting could together create an exciting new business for them to do together!!
Christina thought it was a brilliant idea and suggested for it be called “D&M Cards” with D representing Daughter and M representing Mother!
Anna LOVED the idea!! Anna presented the idea to her daughter and she completely agreed. Within 24 hours they had purchased the domain name, created the facebook page, twitter account, instagram account, and ordered business cards!
